ABOUT THIS SITE

In 1989 I was given Illusions by Richard Bach. His narrator uses a book called Reminders For The Advanced Soul to guide him towards the answers he's looking for, opening the book and taking what's on the open page as a guide. The web can extend this to a much wider audience, so I offer these pages in a spirit of friendship and support.

Samian offers a guide towards what may be a truth at a given moment in time. The quotations come from a variety of sources – poetry, scripture, essays, letters, novels, sayings and speeches. If there are verses, quotations or texts that inspire you, please tell us. Samian is non-commercial: adverts do not appear on the site and are not accepted.

WHY SAMIAN?

Samian was one of the Sibyls of ancient Greek mythology. Sibyls were prophetesses who served the local area by answering questions about day-to-day problems and concerns. When I first put this site together, it seemed a perfect description for what I wanted to achieve.

A NOTE ON GENDER

I chose to include the quotations in their original (or translated) forms. If the authors were writing now, I'm sure they would use more inclusive alternatives.
